| Just saw on NSR that the Champion Hamp Boar sold to Lean Value. Would like to hear from you folks that saw this boar in person on what you all thought of him. From his picture he looks pretty good.Congrats to the Hines family for raising this record setting Hamp boar. I have a feeling there will be lots of talk about him this week. | |

| What!!! Thats crazy . How much do you think lean value would actually make back from that boar. I bet he is a hell of a pig, but I don't know how you can justify $205,000. Where are the pics? | |

| I saw the boar being shown yesterday and sold today online and looked really good; I couldn’t believe the price. I would like to use him, but would like to know the price first. | |

| NSR has pics of him. I would guess they would make $6,000 - $7,000 per week on him with him priced at $200- $300 per dose. so 2 or 3 years they should have him covered that is without any problems along the way. I am sure it didnt put a very big dent into Gene Isler's pocket though.Even though he has plenty of greenbacks I would guess there were several that bought intrest in him along with Isler. | |

| Congratulations to the Hines family - and to LVS for getting a great Hampshire boar! Yes folks, it is harder to put together a great purebred boar. But when one comes along the rewards are still there. There's a new high dollar cross boar every show - great purebreds are what "breeding hogs" is all about. | |

| Yea well i am glade other people can buy seman for 200-300. i have seen some pretty good boars priced at 50-75.00 that i will be using. i think it is crazy that somebody buy a boar for that much and THEN put a big price tag on it and people that have more money than sense buying it. to much money for my blood | |

| I wouldnt retire if becoming the best is a challenge imagine the rush of staying on top. I need to see this boar because those are unbelievable numbers. They better run that boar pretty hard and have things all planned out because I seriously doubt that they can profit from that. What would you all say the doses would run something like eight hundred this eliminates most of us from using him. He better be reasonable and worth it.
HE STILL NEEDS TO PROVE HIMSELF AS A SIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| well you guys i really haven't seen him or imagined how he looks but if they sell semen for $300.oo a dose multiplied by 3 collection days all year ???? they ARE GOING TO GET there money back in 2yrs easy????? $300 x 2 doses = $600.00 estimated 15 doses a collection=$4,500 x 3 collectionn days=$13,500 multiplied to # of weeks in the year 52=702,000..with out shipping costs and estimmating # of doses ...so i think he;ll pay back quick in 2-3 years.....so Congrates to the Hines Family and & Lean Value Sires | |

| So $ 205,000 divided by say $400 a dose equals 512 doses. (The Priceless boar sells for $350 a dose.) Add in cost of money feed marketing dollars housing etc and maybe they need to sell 600 doses to profit. I'm just guessing but I doubt if I am an order of magnitude off.
With all the buzz around this boar I think it is a safe bet that at least 300 sows are going to get bred to him. I'd book semen now.

| Well i agree with both of you all? i have produced a champion and a reserve champion with a $25.00 dose on a boar called red line from LVS... and i agree you get what you pay for BUT what if she don't settle WHAT EXPENSE DID YOU GET OUT OF IT will you get here with the same boar and risk the same tab or go with a cheapier priced the following time....My Father always told me the genetics are always there but the owner makes the animal to there likeings and to there own standards so really its not how much youy waste on getting it bred its HOW GOOD YOU RAISE YOUR ANIMAL TO BE !! | |

| If I have noticed something throughout all aspect of life is that the price tag does NOT always necessarily reflect the true value and quality of things. I can step into the ring with a two hundred three hundred dollar pig and my chances are just as good as yours. Like i have said before that is great for the seller and the buyer but I will stick to my budget because this is just one area of my life and I have other things to take care of. | |
