1st Time Showing

What would our new 4H(er) get out of showing his pigs at our parish fair, even if it "looks" like he will be the only one with pigs?

Last year our fair did not have a pig show. Then when our Jr. Livestock Show came about their was only 3 "kids" showing and they were age(ing) out after that show.

Any thoughts?

I think it is up to you. You have to remember that going to a show is about the experience. However , you can go through a lot of trouble getting your pig to the show and then show for a minute. I probably would not try but, if it serves as a good family experience , then give it a go.

Well we did find out that he can show his heifer in October, so we would be bringing at least one animal and we would be there to keep and eye out on her.
